The victim, named by local media as 21-year-old Jaydon Sienkiewicz, was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the right side of his chest.

The Bangkok Post reported Mr Sienkiewicz had been partying with a group of ten, including his Australian father and stepmother, and was attacked while in the toilet.

In a statement to AAP, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it "stands ready to offer consular assistance to an Australian man hospitalised in Thailand".
